Gradient / Variable Coatings

Circular Variable Neutral Density (CVND) Optical Filters

Circular Variable Neutral Density (CVND) filters are best used in high-quality optical systems to change the intensity of light from 100% to less than 0.1%. As the filter rotates, the beam intensity is reduced due to the density variation of a gradient metallic coating around the filter. Available from the UV to Infrared, density neutrality can be achieved for narrow band applications, such as lasers, to wide band applications, such as the spectrum of white light. These filters are fully customizable in optical density gradient function, transmission gradient function, substrate type, coating material, and size to match your application requirements. Capabilities include custom optics, thin-film coatings, optical fabrication, diamond point turning (DPT), magnetorheological finishing (MRF), and photolithography patterns. Bullseye® Apodizing Filter

Bullseye® Apodizing Optical Filters

Bullseye® Apodizing Filters are customizable density gradient filters that change radially from the center to the outside of the optical component. These filters are used to eliminate undesirable intensity variations in optical systems or to modify the wavefront of an illumination source. Configurations include both dark-in-the-center, typically used to reduce low-frequency variations or to create top-hat wave fronts, and clear-in-the-center functions, typically used to reduce high-frequency variations outside of the main beam profile. Other in-house capabilities include custom optics, thin-film coatings, optical fabrication, diamond point turning (DPT), magnetorheological finishing (MRF), and photolithography patterns. Reynard is ISO 9001:2015 , ITAR, and Cybersecurity (CMMC).

Linear Apodizing Optical Filters

Inserting a customizable linear apodizing optical filter eliminates undesirable intensity variations.

Diamond Point Turning, Flycutting & MRF

Diamond Point Turning (DPT) freeform optics and advanced Magnetorheological Finishing (MRF) polishing are performed entirely in-house, supporting precision optical components from 6 mm to 250 mm. Capabilities emphasize high-quality fabrication for IR, exotic, and III-V crystal materials, as well as reverse axicons with full 360-degree window coatings. Both specialized and standard IR substrates such as Si, Ge, ZnS, and ZnSe are enhanced with high-performance thin-film coatings, including anti-reflection (AR), single- and multi-band filters, blocking layers, metallization, and gradient ND coatings tailored to specific applications. Aspheric, spherical, cylindrical, and freeform optics are all designed, manufactured, coated, and tested internally. DPT methods include axis-symmetric grinding, rotary B-axis grinding, polygon fly-cutting, and spiral milling. Additional in-house services cover custom optics, thin-film coating, optical fabrication, diamond turning, MRF polishing, and photolithographic patterning. Reynard maintains ISO 9001:2015 certification and complies with ITAR and CMMC cybersecurity standards.

Dual-Band Infrared Bandpass Optical Filters

Dual-band infrared optical filters for the mid-wave infrared and long-wave infrared provide high performance in-band and out-of-band.

Dual-Band Infrared AR Optical Coatings

Anti-reflection (AR) optical coatings provide high transmission in the mid-wave infrared and loge-wave infrared bands.

Optical Fabrication

Infrared (IR) optics in the 1 to 16µm (SWIR, MWIR & LWIR) spectrums as well as IR exotic optical materials.

Photolithography Pattern Optics

Contact exposing technique achieves geometries as small as 5 microns on substrates up to 18” diameter utilizing a variety of thin film coating materials.
