Reynard Corporation manufactures custom optical components & thin film coatings from 0.2um to 50um (UV to far IR) to demanding specifications for military, aerospace, medical, telecommunication applications. In-house services include design support, optical and mechanical fabrication, photolithography, component sub-assembly and MIL-Spec environmental testing. Senior Optician / Fabrication Technician

Basic Functions:

  • Provide technical process expertise in the Optical Fabrication department at Reynard Corporation
  • Operate and maintain conventional polishing spindles and/or CP polishers producing a variety of optical components
  • Assist the Fabrication Manager with maintaining work and delivery schedules
  • Work with the Fabrication Manager to develop new processes and procedures to improve current methods
  • Follow Reynard Quality Management System (ISO)
  • R & D of new materials and processes
  • Train junior technicians
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by Fabrication manager.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 10+ years working with precision optics fabricated from a variety of materials, achieving difficult and unique specifications in prototype and production quantities
  • Extensive experience in polishing the following materials: Germanium, Silicon, Zinc selenide (among others)
  • Ability to problem solve issues associated with manufacture of optics possessing the following characteristics: 0.1 wave P-V flatness at 633nm both sides, <5 arc seconds parallel, surface quality <=A-A per MIL-F-48616
  • Ability to setup, operate, and maintain equipment without supervision or direction
  • Fluent in operation of the following metrology equipment: Fizeau interferometer (for measurement of flatness, transmitted wavefront, wedge), autocollimator, calipers, micrometers • Fluent in compositional and conversational English
