Senior Optician / Fabrication Technician

Job Description Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical process expertise in the Optical Fabrication department at Reynard Corporation
  • Operate and maintain conventional polishing spindles and/or CP polishers producing a variety of optical components
  • Assist the Fabrication Manager with maintaining work and delivery schedules
  • Work with the Fabrication Manager to develop new processes and procedures to improve current methods
  • Follow Reynard Quality Management System (ISO)
  • R & D of new materials and processes
  • Train junior technicians
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by Fabrication manager.

Job Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 10+ years working with precision optics fabricated from a variety of materials, achieving difficult and unique specifications in prototype and production quantities
  • Extensive experience in polishing the following materials: Germanium, Silicon, Zinc selenide (among others)
  • Ability to problem solve issues associated with manufacture of optics possessing the following characteristics: 0.1 wave P-V flatness at 633nm both sides, <5 arc seconds parallel, surface quality <=A-A per MIL-F-48616
  • Ability to setup, operate, and maintain equipment without supervision or direction
  • Fluent in operation of the following metrology equipment: Fizeau interferometer (for measurement of flatness, transmitted wavefront, wedge), autocollimator, calipers, micrometers • Fluent in compositional and conversational English

Coating LAB Technician IV

Job Description Responsibilities:

  • Assist Coating Lab Manager with maintaining work / delivery schedules
  • Maintain clean / organized work area(s) at all times
  • Maintaining work center witness archive for each job assigned / deposition executed
  • Read and follow instructions / procedures
  • BOM counts for each assigned job
  •  Clean substrates for coating as required
  • Load / operate / unload vacuum chambers
  • Measure / verify spectral performance
  • Operate multiple chambers / multitask
  • Execute routine preventative maintenance tasks
  • Generate PASS / FAIL dispositions of product
  • Assist Lab Manager in developing / documenting new processes as required
  • Assist Lab Manager in improving existing processes / documentation as required
  • Resolve work instruction [questions / discrepancies / concerns] prior to task execution.
  • Train junior technicians • Additional responsibilities as assigned by Supervisor per Section 3.0

Job Requirements:

  • Fluent in compositional and conversational English
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED.
  • Experience: >=5 years vacuum chamber operation in thin film coating environment
  • Ability to read and interpret: Mechanical drawings / specifications, Flowcharts and Spectral plots
  • Ability to determine compliance of parts against specification requirements
  • Basic math skills including arithmetic, algebra, and trigonometry
  • Basic computer skills, including: Microsoft Excel  (v.2003 or later) and Microsoft Word (v.2003 or later)
  • Able to lift 20 lbs.
  • Ability to setup, operate, and maintain equipment without supervision or direction
  • Ability to multitask
  • Fluent in use / operation of simple tools including analog and digital calipers
  • Fluent in maintenance / rebuild of Electron beam guns, including filament assemblies, End-Hall type ion guns and Sputtering cathodes
  • Fluent in cosmetic inspection methods in accordance with MIL STD’s
  • Fluent in cleaning of precision optical surfaces
  • Fluent in operation of commercial spectrophotometers
