Technical Lab Manager

Job Description:

  • The role of the Technical Lab Manager is to provide vacuum-process related technical expertise to coating technicians while overseeing efficient operation of the coating lab, from equipment functionality to employee staffing. Good communication skills and a willingness to work with teams for solutions is a must. Organization of manufacturing process flow and the ability to write and update procedures, as well as staff training are necessary.


  • >=5 years’ optical thin film process engineering / equivalent manufacturing
  • >=3 years’ technical management of subordinates


  • BS in engineering / equivalent experience


  • Vacuum chamber operation and troubleshooting
  • Working knowledge of / demonstrated interest in application of SPC
  • Strong communication skils
  • Organizational and Planning
  • Aptitude to understand new concepts/methodical problem solving
  • Fluent in compositional and conversational English
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, including Excel, Word, Project
  • Experience with ERP systems a plus
  • Working knowledge of commercially available thin film design software a plus
  • Driven to succeed

Working Conditions/Work Hours:

  • Laboratory cleanroom environment
  • 7:00am – 4:00pm, nominally
  • Monday-Friday, periodic weekends
